Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you send a message by email, we retain it as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems may receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:
- Pages viewed and the amount of time spent on them
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- The referring site, when available
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Montgomery County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Sheriff's Records and Identification Office, Montgomery County courts, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. Their own privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure rules apply to any information entered there. We do not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Montgomery County sheriff, Alabama courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's policy governs the visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information under our control. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights regarding personal data we hold. The Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code §§36-12-40 through 36-12-45, governs requests to public custodians and does not turn this private site into a government records office. Ala. Code §41-9-601 also penalizes false-pretense access to, falsification of, or unauthorized communication of criminal-offender record information. Subject to lawful limits, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Object to certain forms of processing
